hi everybody;My latitude c400 crashed ,but bought it back to life;I have Microsfot xp ,service pack 2 installed;my problem:my insertion point indicator or I cursor is missing!!!I can not type in any text box or log into my email or other accounts;

anybody can help me please,please?I am just a mom,who can not afford another computer;it took me 2 days to read and learn how to bring it back but on the above issue I can not find any solutions!!!

I think, your best option is to hook up an external mouse, see, if it works, and then when you're able to navigate your laptop, we can try to fix the issue.

ok,thanks;but before I look for a mouse,does it make any difference if I am able to point and write in the address bar on the top?because,that I can do,I just can not type in the msn or google search box,or,if I want to go into my email I can not type in my email address/password box....

Oh, I think, I misread your problem.
I thought, the mouse pointer was missing, but actually the cursor is missing.
You can see cursor in address bar, but not in search box?

Click "Help" in upper menu, then "About.....".

ok;something is wrong there also...I get an error message popping up:error 96-unspecified error,and in the other box,it doesn'say anything about versionof microsoft internet explorer...;if I look in the control panel,ander add/remove programs,i have internet explorer 8-does this help?

sorry I got loged out and my message did not post;notepad is working,outlock is working,games are working;I did not install yet other programs like office and such,i did not get there...

So, summing this up, it only happens in IE8, correct?
If so, uninstall it through Add\Remove. It'll revert to IE7.
