    Which Spyware, Malware etc. Package
    « on: June 06, 2009, 09:41:21 AM »
    Hi everyone,
Hope this is the right forum, but if not, no doubt someone will redirect the post.
At the moment l'm using PCTools Spyware Doctor (paid version) which gives me realtime protection againtst spyware, malware and the like.
I've been happy with it over the years, but it's due for renewal again and the renewal fee is a tad on the high side.
If anyone out there knows of Spyware Doctor, then will Superantispyware afford me the same protection as Spyware Doctor?
I'm obviously trying to save a bit of money here, but not necessarily at the expense of leaving the computer open to threats!
Also, should l have realtime protection or not and are there any other recommended programs that you know of?
BTW, my current online virus protection is from Avast, and my firewall is the standard windows one. Both of these have also given me complete protection.
    Thanks

The best three available in my opinion:

    avast! Anit-Virus
    SUPERAntiSpyware
    COMODO Personal Firewall

You should also do regular scans with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Thanks very much for that Kpac.
Hve got the free version of SAS. Should l pay for the upgrade that offers real time cover?

Not completely necessary. If you feel you need it then do, but if you're the type to scan regularly, then the free version will do you fine. ;)
