    Playing a 3gpp file ?
    « on: June 07, 2009, 10:31:03 AM »
I have a load of 3gpp files on my lapop that i want to save to disk and hard drive, but some of them just wont play, iv tried opening them in real player and quick time but they wont

QT message says error 2010 the movie contains some invalid data

    and

Real PLayer says  Cannot start player, more information available at real networks, then real networks says

You are attempting to start playback while the playback engine is busy with another function.  You will not be able to initiate playback until the other action is stopped or completed.

Real player also brings up a message saying the coloue scheme has changed when i try and play theses files ?

I have checked but i have nothing else open.

I is there any other way i can lay these files.  Tey were all taken using our camcorder or camera and seems odd that spme play and others dont.

    Thanks

I'm not sure they are compatible with a computers media player. They are meant for mobile devices. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/3gpp/

OK. Just wanted to be sure.

Try the ones that will not play in VLC media player. If they still don't work they could be corrupt. If they do then I suggest using VLC. It's very good with non standard codecs.

Also, you can try getting the free software (it does good, I tried it) from below link and try converting  your media to other media file types to see if the media will like it better than the original 3gp (or 3gpp, whatever that format's name is) format ... http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

That has gotten some media files to play on my computer that way. The original file wasn't playing and the person who sent me the file said his computer was playing it with no problem with the original media type so... give that a shot too  ;D
