I have played games were onboard sound or a sound card thats not very good can have an effect on game play. Just disable your sound try running the game to see if its any better. Oh and one more thing since you had it built make sure your hard drive is on the master and not the master slave as that was somthing else i came across for poor game play. Maybe it might just be the game severs when alot of players are connected, Have you asked anyone else on line if they are getting the what your getting.
