    Audio Device/Sound Card
    « on: June 17, 2009, 11:01:01 AM »
I have no sound on my computer and I've tried all the troubleshooting options they give you - But to no avail...  It keeps me telling me that there's no audio device and/or sound card loaded - And I'm guessing that means I have to have the disc to re-load it - But I don't have the disk, and so ???  Help !  Thanks ! :-\

    Hello!
    Additional info please..
Hardware Specs, OS, have you done anything before the problem, troubleshooting options you have done, etc..
    Thanks! ;D

Not sure what all you're asking - As I'm not a computer guru or anything like that...  But I tried all the troubleshooting options offered in MicroSoft and it's a Dell Computer and it's Windows XP Professional...  It just keeps saying there's no audio device and/or sound card loaded...  Thanks !

Click Start > Run. Type dxdiag on the box.
First Tab will show you your Computer details. Check also the Sound tab and let's see what audio drivers your computer is using.

You could also check Device Manager.
Right click My Computer icon then select Manage.
Click on Device Management and see if there's a yellow exclamation mark.

But I don't have the disk

If you do what jerryheavyarms suggests that will identify the sound card that you have.  We can then assist you in locating an online driver for the card.

        Post computer brand, and model.

        Then...
        Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
        Open it.
In left pane expand Computer folder.
        Click once on Summary
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under the line Debug - PCI

That's okay, just start a different thread.  It gets confusing if we try helping more than one person per thread.
