Freezing
« on: May 22, 2005, 01:43:46 PM »
Hello,

Recently my computer has begun to freeze periodically. When I turn it on, the computer freezes about every other second. The light that says the computer is thinking flashes on for a second while the computer is frozen, and then turns off, but then it turns on again and freezes. This lasts for several minutes.

This also happens when I open a program, and it sometimes happens the whole time I have a program open. My connection to the internet is also unstable because of this, and I get disconnected often.

I have got help and cleared my HJT logs, but with no result. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are several options that you have:

  • Remove excessive dust from (case) fans
-- Dust might cause an obstacle for the fans prohobit proper airflow.
  • Scan for spyware, viruses and Trojan horses
-- Spyware, Viruses and trojan horses could cause your Operating System to misfunction and require it to load more often.
  • Use a registry scanner to clean the registry
-- Obsolete registry entries can be a source of redundant data, slowing your system down as it has to read more.
  • Defragment your Hard Disk Drive(s)
-- Defragmenting your Hard Disk Drives will allow for more space to be freed and a more efficient use of current disk space.

It is imperative that you do all this on a regular basis.

I tried all of those things except for the dust cleaning, I'm not really sure how to go about that. I will try that next though. Thank you!

And I think I have 256 MB Ram?
