did a recovery 2 months ago and now...
    « on: July 06, 2009, 12:02:30 PM »
I did a recovery on my laptop about 2 months ago, then I was still having issues with the pc and took it to the computer shop and had it fixed sort of.  I go home and I realized about a few weeks later that my Microsoft software was not there anymore.  Now I need my MS Word and Perfect and all the rest back.  Is there a way to do that without purchasing again at the store?  I have an Acer Notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium and it came with Microsoft Office 2007 but don't know which one, I think Standard.  Thanks.

If it shipped with those products liscensed and installed one option is to use the hidden recovery partition to restore the machine to Day One status...
Probably not a good option since all your data will be gone.

The other option is to find an Office CD of the same version and do a re-install and use your liscense key to re-activate.

The Microsoft Office which had all three word, notepad, and the other one I can't remember came with the pc when I bought it.  How do I get it back in the pc without purchasing again at the store?  I think it was the standard version of Microsoft Office 2007.  I told you I did a recovery 2 months ago and then went to the computer store to get some other things fixed on it.  Then I  needed the Microsoft Office 2007 to do some business on it and it wasn't there.  How can I get it back in the system without buying at the store for $150.00?  Thanks.

Were you supplied with any CD's or DVD's with software when you bought the computer?

I have an Acer Notebook 5100 Aspire.  It was purchased two years ago and there were no cds supplied with it.  There was no Microsoft software supplied with it, it was just there when purchased.  So now what, buy another Microsoft Office 2007 or what?  Thanks.

Part of the problem is most people don't generally deal with computer problems. So for most they think that close enough is good enough.

          Agreed.

And ask them how to access the hidden recovery partition...if you re-do it properly all those programs should be there.
