    Linux to XP
    « on: July 22, 2009, 07:44:11 PM »
I installed Linux to my computer and later switched to XP. i had some data stored on an external drive and now cannot access the information on that drive. The computer DOES recognize the drive, but it is noted as "unallocated." I also cannot access the files when I use a Linux operating system. Can anyone help?

How old a drive was it and how hard a life did it have?

Was this external drive formatted as NTFS?

I am assuming nothing else is available on that drive. When you right click on the drive and choose Properties, dows it show up as "RAW"?

does it work with any other computer? Would another computer be able to read the external drive so you can retrieve the stuff out of it? Maybe a long shot but worth a try anyway.  :)
