8gb Flash Drive keeps corrupting files in or out

So i was surfing the (e)bay for a flash drive, a legitimate one, i had a 20 dollar budget....im 14...anyways.
while surfing pages and pages for a good deal, i find an 8 gb for $14 USD. I say "OH LAWD!" and buy it.
when it gets here, its in an asian language....most likely Japanese because i recall some part.

So after i start to fill it up, after i fill about...1.8 gb of it, it starts corrupting ALL new files i put on or take off,

i tested a batch,

I bought a SanDisk 8 GB at WalMart for $20 US plus sales tax.

You've most likely been scammed.
There is a lot of scammers on ebay who will tamper with low capacity flash drives so they act like higher capacity drives. For example a 4gb drive reporting to Windows it is in fact a 8gb drive.
When you try to write past the actual capacity of such a drive, it of course can't and the data is lost.
Have a read on how you can determine whether your drive is fake or not.

oh yes, these fake drives are often infected with virus as well, so if you've gotten a bad one maybe you should read this as well.

Oh, OK -- I thought it was part of the problem.

You might check Wal-Mart on line.  I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart, but I was surprised by the amount of merchandise they offer on line.

Newegg.com, Tiger Direct, and Amazon offer good deals, too.

Do you have recourse with the seller of the drive?  Will they replace it?

I have bought items from ebay before, when you buy any type of computer hardware they will not accept a return if you use it even once. I had that happen with a 1TB external HD, the drive would not run, even though the BIOS read it it could not be written to. Since this is a Flash drive you might format it and see what size it finally reads as. Just my two cents.

yuup ive been scammed, i ran barts stuff tester. it can only hold 4 gb.

but i do not know why it screws up barely after 1.8 gb.

It's unfortunately a common problem. Even retail stores have been cheated by these people.

Well, I'm sorry it happened.  It's easy to say, "Buyer beware!' after the fact, but it really wasn't your fault - you should be able to buy something, and not be scammed, or cheated.

I wish these dishonest people would put their talents toward making the world better.  By that, I mean better for others, not themselves.
