downloading problems
« on: July 13, 2009, 08:01:44 PM »
I just got a Lexar 4GB Firefly jump drive.  When I put it in the computer, my avast said I have a trojan--also when I tried to scan the jump drive.  I haven't put any files on it yet.  When I checked out the how to remove malware, it said to start with ccleaner.  When I tried to download, I got a NSIS error message.  I followed the info about repairing the error and downloaded again and got another error message about a corrupted file.  Also, everything I have tried to download lately gives me a not a win32 error message.  I have avast and spyware terminator and update them and scan regularily.  I also have all the microsoft updates.  I had zonealarm firewall, but that was the first thing that wouldn't update and seemed not to be working anymore, so I only have the windows firewall which I understand it not very good.  Why can't I download anything? And why would a new jump drive have a virus/trojan?  Thanks

And sticking a memory stick in a possibly infected computer in also not such a good idea. Better to use a CD-RW
