Funny alphabets

Im realy at a lost..

when i start up my pc (b4 windows load up), the screen will either have odd or missing letters in the sentences, or thin and coloured lines appearing.  I have to reset my pc once or more to finally let it run properly.

Ive scan my pc repeatedly with these softwares, and found no virus nor spyware.

1) housecall.trendmicro.com
2) AVG personal
3) search and destroy
4) adaware personal

could it be a hardware problem? Please advise and all help will be appreciated.

Have you tried updating your video card drivers? Which operating system are you using? Have you tried running a Windows Update?

thnx 4 replying, im using windows 2000 and have updated my video card driver and window update as well. But the problem still persist.

could it be that my graphic card is getting spoilt?

This very well COULD be a hardware problem, but it is hard for me to tell you that becuase I can not actually see the computer myself... So we're going to have to try some alternatives... Have you made any changes to your system lately?

Could you show us a screenshot/photo of your problem?

Just incase you don't know... When you see the error message, press the PRINT SCRN key, and then go to Paint, and click on Edit -> Paste ... Then save the photo... Next, you need to get the photo hosted... Try http://www.villagephotos.com/ ... After you upload your picture, come back to this topic to reply, and click on that icon above that shows a picture... Paste the URL to the photo in the tags...
