K7S5A-Motherboad with XP-athlon 1600+ CPU
« on: May 29, 2005, 02:37:06 AM »
All that I get when computer is turned on is cpu-fan working  and power light on front of case...

No Beeps no Sound (no booting at all)....

Can someone tell me if its the motherborad, memory or cpu that is the problem or something else.....

And how do I go about determing the problem....

Thanks

Questions:

1. Have you built this computer yourself?
2. Are all hardware components properly seated?
3. When has your problem first started?

Actually, I received computer from a friend.

I believe that for booting purposes, no peripheral devices need be attached (other than Monitor) which is how I am attempting to boot.  The boad contains cpu , fan, memory, AGP video card and  Monitor.

When the power is turned on no beeps are occuring.

Just trying to deduce the cause.......

Thanks....

1. Was it allready malfunctioning when he gave it to you?

2. Replace all hardware components present one by one and see where the fault lies.

It was malfuction when I received it.

In what order should I replace teh parts?....

Is there any way of telling if the xp-athlon 1600+ is bad?

Or the Mother board?

Thanks

1. Ask your acquaintancewhat has led to these problems.

2. Test each hardware component individually. Preferably in another system.

3. Remove the heat sink and inspect the processor for scratches, burn marks or misplaced thermal paste.

4. Inspect the motherboard for burn marks.
