Laptop not booting
« on: May 29, 2005, 07:06:14 AM »
My PB laptop will not boot up. Fan comes on and stays on, drive lights flicker but then die. Inserting a cd/dvd in the drive however makes to drive come back on, searches but then dies again. I have damaged my start up disk. Do you think a start up disk would fix this? How do I get another start up disk? If its more than using a start up disk, then what could be the problem? I'm using windows xp, both batttery and mains power. I have removed the cmos battery and replaced it after a spell, but still nothing. Any help?

So the power keeps on turning off, right? Do you have virus protection? Any beeping noises?

Have a look at your video card to make sure that it is still in place...

Sure. Take your time... Just remember this... DO NOT touch ANY system component without grounding the electricity from your body first!

The video card looks fine. Nothing loose or unplugged inside
