I want to upgrade to Gigabit ethernet and I need to know if adding a Gigabit PCI or PCI Express 1X Ethernet card will void the warrenty in my Dell PC. I bought it a few months ago and I can build a PC.

You'll probably have to contact Dell Customer Service or Support to inquire about their policies on adding hardware to the system while under warranty.

Dont they usually have some sort of sticker on the side panel that says warrenty void if removed?  If it doesnt, then go ahead, and if it ever breaks, then take it out and send it back.

That's a good point, too.  I spent just a few minutes on the Dell site, but couldn't find anything specific.  It may be there, but I couldn't find it in a short amount of time.  Contact Dell, so you'll know where you stand before you do anything.

Do you have access to true gigabit Ethernet if you install the card?

From wikipedia:
Quote
There are four different physical layer standards for gigabit Ethernet using optical fiber (1000BASE-X), twisted pair cable (1000BASE-T), or balanced copper cable (1000BASE-CX).

Are you running on a gigabit LAN?

I'm not sure intalling such a card will help you, otherwise.  I'm not sure it's going to make a "standard" internet connection any faster.

There's no sticker in the back of the PC.
