    Monitor does not detect signal.
    « on: July 24, 2009, 04:35:33 PM »
I turned my computer on and the monitor went into sleep mode saying it did not detect a signal. On the hard drive the green light blinks once and the red light blinks twice and this pattern repeats.

I removed out the video card and plugged the cable into the on-board VGA with no change in results.  I also removed the TV tuner card. I tried a different monitor with the same results. The chassis speaker beeps once. All the fans and other components seem to be running normally.

    Windows XP SP3 Home
    Asus M2N-MX SE Plus
Diamond ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro

    Thanks,
    Brett

When you attempted to use the integrated video adapter did you enable it in the BIOS?

When you first start the computer and it goes through the post process you can either tap the 'Del' key repeatedly or the F2 key.  It depends on the computer, some use one and some use the other.  Look for the onboard video and select it for enable.

Will that bring it out of sleep mode?

When you go into the BIOS it should automatically send a signal to the monitor from the integrated video.

Thanks I will try it. Any other suggestions if that doesn't work?

Try the above link that I posted, that will find any updated drivers for your system.

I'm incredibly confident that the monitor itself is your issue.

The monitor still does not respond. If it helps the problem started after the computer had been unplugged.

Sorry, my last reply wound up in this thread for some reason, it's actually not for you.

Double check all of the cable connections.  Did you try reseating the add-on video card?

I put the card back in and tried the VGA and the DVI. This is extra frustrating to me because nothing will show up on the monitor. Is the blinking lights an error message?

It's possible that the monitor failed, do you know anybody with a working monitor that you can check it with?

I don't want to tell you to spend money without narrowing down the problem.

I think i tried that without the video card. Do you think I should try it again to be sure?
