I was going through the process of installing the software and cleaners that are recomended on this site and made it all the way up to the java update and then lost internet connection and i am not able to reconnect with that computer. I am using another computer on the same connection so its not the service.  The laptop os is windows xp home. I use firefox broswer i dont really know what else to list for help if you need more info(which im sure u do) please let me know.

    Thanks

If you've lost your connection, download the programs to a USB stick on a good PC and transfer them to your laptop.
You may have to run them in safe mode, if you have difficulty.
You may have to rename them.
      Post your logs when done.
If you get stuck on a step, proceed to the next step.

As long as your firewall is on  and you've verified it, I wouldn't worry about it.
Consider a free firewall...Comodo and Zone Alarm are free and more efficient than the windows firewall.

One last note...go to system properties and enter into system restore, check the box to turn it off, wait a minute or so then uncheck the box so the Status reverts to monitoring. This will establish a new restore point so any malware held in a restore point is purged.
