 ???
when i switch on my pc a message is displayed on the post screen -"ide channel no 80 conductor installed", and the pc fails to boot.
sometimes boots without this problem.

help me..............

80 conducter IDE cables are used for the CS (cable select) setting on drives. If you have 40 conducter cables, you must make the proper M (master) or S (slave) settings on the drives. This is done with the small jumper on the back of the drives. The absence of a jumper is for single drive operation, although the jumper can be set that way.

the 80 cable has extra double wires per 40 pin connection to stop data transfer loss and also allows faster data transfer for ATA133 etc have you added a newer and larger hard drive, or dvd, cdrom, it is a simple changeover and the 80 cable can be recognized by the blue connecters
