    Please help...sound and video freeze
    « on: July 28, 2009, 07:55:32 AM »
    running windows vista....
Everything is fine but when I play music, it will play fine for a song or two and then it will freeze. It sounds like it is stuck and skipping or jittery.
If I am playing a video, the same thing happens, but the video will just freeze.
I have installed a new graphics card (GEFORCE 9400 GT) AND THAT DID NOT HELP AT ALL.

I assume your playing music and games from your optical drive when this happens.  Do you only have 1 optical drive (CD ROM / DVD ROM)?

    Please, post some computer info:
    - processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
    - hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")
    - security programs in use (antivirus, firewall)

    What player do you use?

Is the disk that won't play one that is burned, or is it a disk that was purchased at a store?

it's not a disk... there is no disk involved, I don't think.

Yeah, the OP doesn't state that, we'll have to see.

I dont think its the drive either, since it does this while
on the internet,,,,,but, it does also do this while playing
a disc in the drive--one that was bought, "training video for work"

Can you post a screen shot of the processes that are running in Task Manager?

When was the last time that you defragmented the HDD?

What has changed prior to this problem? I assume it has not always been this way.
