Can anyone get to this site?

I am trying to get to a site http://www.sploofus.com/
But keep getting this error message:

Well, I get a connection timeout, so maybe the site exists, and it's a temporary server problem...or maybe Amy just tore it up!!

they do exist. It's a temporary problem I think. Whois.net, the site which you can check their registrations still say they exist as of right now and that their registration is valid.

I still can't get to the site. Still keep getting the same message. Sploofus is the name of the site.

That's what I get when I try, now.  If the URL didn't exist any more, you'd get some kind of 404 error that the site or URL cannot be found.  This is more or less indicating that the site's there, but the browser can't connect.

Parts of the site isn't free though. As with so many things out there, you get more features for paying.
How do you tell though if the site is legitimate or not? I guess I wont pay for anything with them if that looks like the case.

I also just noticed something and was wondering, is that whois site possibly listing some wrong information for people? The only reason I'm wondering is on the Sploofus site, it lists a different email than the whois site lists for them

I was also wondering, are Ip addresses suppose to be another method of getting to websites?

yes, ip address is another way to locate websites, though we're normally not typing ip addresses but the actual domain name.  Every website you go to (like google.com, yahoo.com, etc., they all have an ip address of the server hosting the site and the domain name is much easier to remember than a lot of numbers don't you think?)

the email address associated with the person or party who has officially registered a domain name does not have to be the same as the official one they list on the actual website

Actually, the IP address is the way things are addressed and located.  The URL's are for our convenience, since it is easier to remember "google.com" and so forth.  DNS (Domain Name Servers) provide the "translation" between IP address and URL.
