Stupid Virus-Help me get rid of it :(
    « on: August 01, 2009, 10:02:51 AM »
Lately there has been some strange virus/popup constantly interupting my windows, even if it's a familiar site I've been on for years. And certain windows keep getting interupted by it guarenteed, like my message boxes on sites. Heres what popes up when it happens. The screen goes white and the title on the top of the window changes to 'MyComputeronline' or something like that and this message pops up.

No matter what I do; click OK, Click Cancel, or even 'X' out of it, it brings up this window that looks like 'my computer' window, only it's obviously a window on the net and begins to download viruses, or seemingly, as you can see, theres a date that's back in 2008 for this whole thing. It had my IP(I think, or a random number) and the city I'm living in on the left side(I blanked them out for safety reasons.).

I don't know if this is an empty threat or if it's really downloading something. But when I 'X' out of that window, since I'm scared it is real, another stupid pop up comes up saying how my computer is vulnerable in many ways and this stupid antivirus system can help. I just X out of that and then I lose my windows and have to bring one up again until it happens once more.
If anyone knows what this is and/or can help me get rid of it I would be Sooo greatful.

    Please Help. ???

PS- Oh, and I have AVG as my anti-Virus, I scanned my computer after this happened about 20 times last night but it turned up nothing, and it'd been updated. Is it something flying around the net?

      Go Here...

      http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

Follow the directions and post your logs.

You may have to rename the setup programs. You may have to run them in safe mode.

Follow Karnac's instructions, first.  But, you know what, I think at one time I had been infected with this malware.  The first step is to try and keep your calm.  If I remember right, it will constantly bring up warnings about how your system is at risk and how you have x infections on your computer that were detected.  I used Malwarebyte's Antimalware and did a scan on the computer.  It took care of the malware, and I haven't seen anything of it yet.

I'm pretty sure it is still free to download, but you can pay for a better version of it. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol;pop

it's a rogue malware program. Windows itself will NEVER say "your pc is infected"- and programs don't magically install themselves without yo doing so explicitly unless they are bad... (or windows update downloaded them).

MBAM is part of the malware removal instructions. It doesn't catch everything 100% of the time, which is why the steps are recommended.
