Hmm, I just got Update 15 yesterday (Win XP) and today (Win Vista) via Java updates.  The lag time in their automatic updates is a bit puzzling.

I don't run Java Updater at all. Simply another worthless startup.
Since you use computer every day, all these forums are your Updater

Actually, my delayed updating appears to be due to the setting in my Java Control Panel; it was set to only check monthly for updates. It can be set to weekly or daily. 

But, yes, disabling it would be one less program that starts during Windows startup.  However, I know some people find http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp confusing.  For that reason, I'd be reluctant to advise people to disable the automatic update.

I can tell you right away from working a lot with infected computers, that 90% of those people, who have Java update running as a startup, their Java is out of date

Java.com still has Java 6 Update 15 as the latest version.  [Link]
I wonder why Java's own site is out of date but Sun's site is not.

There was only one issue fixed with Update 16, and it concerns only developers.

This feature release does not contain any new fixes for security vulnerabilities to its previous release, Java SE 6 Update 15. Users who have Java SE 6 Update 15 have the latest security fixes and do not need to upgrade to this release to be current on security fixes.
