An Acer should ship with them...

For your own personal backups also look into Macrium Reflect...they have a Free Edition for Home users.

think you'll find most don't ship them anymore...there is a recovery tool on the
machines that you use to burn a recovery disk once it's up and running....the user documentation
should explain how to create your recovery disk...IMO

If it does not ship with them you can request them and they will send them no charge.
Acer has been doing this all along.

yes according to their support page it ask you to create them, and you insert a CD/DVD
and it burns the recovery disk for you...most major manufactures have been doing it like this
for abot 4-5 years...and most only allow it as a one time thing...

The trouble with that is burned or copied disks use a light sensitive dye on the surface to record data.  They don't last as long as a factory burned disk.  Factory burned disks usually have physical changes in the foil surface, and don't corrupt anywhere near as easily.

there is no such thing as a factory "burned" disc, they are stamped.

CD-R literally burns marks into the recording layer to change the reflectiveness; CD-RW relies on crystalizing and melting of something in the recording layer.

STAMPED, that was the word I was looking for.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's a different dye or a combination of layers on a CD-RW.  The CD-R's are the ones with the standard dye.

Do note that the manufacturer sent discs tend to be for a series rather than the specific computer and may take much longer to complete that the ones created specifically for the PC  ;D

there aren't "discs created specifically for a PC" so your point is moot.

I mean that if you run a recovery from the ones sent by the manufacturer it can take much longer to complete than the ones you create from the PC.
