    Windows Live messenger (MSN) crash
    « on: August 11, 2009, 08:13:20 PM »
My friend has a problem with MSN that no one we know can diagnose. The messenger opens like it should however when we attempt to sign in the following error message is portrayed and the messenger crashes:

"Windows Live Communications Platform has stopped working
    Problem Event Name:   APPCRASH
      Application Name:   wlcomm.exe
      Application Version:   14.0.8064.206

      Fault Module Name:   StackHash_1dd5

      Fault Module Timestamp:   49e03821
      Exception Code:   c0000374

      OS Version:   6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1
      Locale ID:   4105
      Additional Information 1:   1dd5
      Additional Inf

      Additional Information 3:   cf62
      Additional Information 4:   fb3853697e809884c28759f380ae9aed"

The problem started to occur spontaneously, with no warning and no apparent cause. MSN was working fine one day and then crashed the next day. The messenger has been updated and reinstalled many times with no effect on the problem. Many virus scans have been run as well as anti spy ware scans, registry cleaners and defragmentations, in each case not solving the problem. The problem is not localized to MSN other instant messengers (such as skype) have crashed in an identical manner with a slightly different error message; at the same time there are messengers that work flawlessly (ventrillo). If you have even the slightest idea to what might be causing this please help, we tried everything we could think of.

The computer specs are as follows:
