i have my speakers hooked up and they have worked before but i recently had to wipe out everything and re install windows because of a virus and now when i try to play music, it says there is no sound device installed and i have tried everything i can think of to get it installed but i only know so much which is very little.

Do you have a CD labeled Driver CD that shipped with the machine ? ?
      That's what you need...
If not there are other methods.

Is this a on board sound or do you have a sound card installed? If this is a on board sound>[meaning you plug your speakers into the mother board line out you can get the driver from your mother board site.
