    Odd screen problem, can't describe
    « on: August 12, 2009, 10:19:54 PM »
I reinstalled windows xp earlier today, and at some point in the past couple hours I notice a certain area of the screen about a square inch will suddenly get stuck displaying that portion of the screen from another window. it'll then change to that square image whenever I go to another window or to the desktop. it'll go away for a second while I move the scrollbar, but when I stop it'll show up again. during games, it'll flicker with every frame. I've tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers. what is the name for this phenomenon? what could cause it?

hmm, never heard of reseting the videocard by any way other than removing and reinstalling drivers. is it like doing a cmos reset? it's an onboard 6510 LE, btw.

If you're able to take a snapshot of it, then it is a video card problem. Just try to re-install the drivers for the video card, if you can.

yeah. that's what I thought too. like I said, uninstalling and reinstalling the nvidia drivers was the first thing I did. guess I could try a previous version.

try uninstalling the video driver without reinstalling (it will default to standerd VGA or SVGA)

haha, I'm gonna reseat my *** on your face. thanks for the clarification though.

Anway, I tried installing the drivers provided by compaq first, then upgrading to the nvidia drivers (because I want the nvidia control panel), and I haven't noticed any problems yet.

you serious? their reply was sarcasm; I responded with sarcasm. Golden Rule, bub, don't dish it, if you can't take it.
on another note, the philosopher in me really wants to argue the definition of "swearing", but I'll let it go, since this is just a help desk forum. your conservative ideals are your own delusions.

you can disable the censor.... I think.

                  Don't know why I can't see it.

Also your reply wasn't sarcasm. Neither was Salmon Trouts, his was a statement of fact, yours was just an expression of your own homo-*censored* fantasies.

                  there, much better.  ;D
