I dont have an ADDRESS BAR!
« on: August 13, 2009, 01:52:03 AM »
I do not have an address bar and dont know how to get one. At the top of my page is the blue border where the minimize, maximize and red x box are. Anything I click on to appears at the top of the page in the blue border. for example when I clicked on "start new topic" in this forum, thats what in the blue border, "start new topic-internet explorer". what do I do, I cannot type in a website address I can only search in google and then try to look for the website I want by clicking on every website that google brings up.

    Hey ebola,

    Welcome to ComputerHope,

    Are you using IE?

Also can you please try to post a screen shot to make it easier to understand what you are facing.

    Thanks

Try pressing ALT. If it brings up a little box with File, view, etc. select view then choose the option about the address bar.

You're not using "Hide Menu Bar" by any chance, are you?

what browser are you using?  Typically there is a view topic in the file bar at the top of the screen which has a toolbars heading under it.  Click on that and youll seee an option to check/uncheck the search bar.  That should do it

I don't think he's having a problem with the "search" bar, and newer versions of IE don't allow users to toggle the address bar.

Right click on any toolbar and select Address Bar.
