Vista 64-bit Windows Media Player Problems
« on: August 14, 2009, 11:04:12 AM »
I recently build my own computer using windows vista-64 bit and everything works great! However I went out and bought a new DVD/CD burner so I could make DVDs and audio CDs using windows Media player and windows media center. Currently when I use iTunes, I am able to make audio CD's but when i try to use the windows software, i get an error saying Media Player could not write the file to the disc. I've already tried different brands of CDs, and changing the writing speed of the drive itself but all with no luck. I want to believe its just a defective drive but on the other hand it can burn data CD's and audio ones using iTunes just fine so does anybody know what the problem could be?

System Details:

Windows Vista 64-bit OS
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz
Western Digital 750 GB HDD
HIS Radeon HD 4670 (512 MB GDDR3 Memory)
HP dvd1140 DVD-RAM/CD-ROM drive (with litescribe)
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Motheboard
OCZ Platinum RAM (2x2GB)
Windows Defender (Spyware)
AVG Free Antivirus

I would appreciate any help. . .

DLoad and try CDBurnerXPro...FREE
If it works then it's a WMP issue...if it doesn't i suspect the DVD laser in the burner is shot.
