A problem has been detected - blue screen issue
    « on: August 15, 2009, 03:48:11 PM »
Can anyone help me out here my desk top Dell computer has this appearing on the screen.  I tried to use reg cure to fix it in safe mode but it won't stay on long enough for me to do anything before the blue screen comes back on.  The following message is what appears -  somebody please tell me how to fix it!!

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent
    damage to your computer.

The problem is caused by the file NAVEX15.SYS
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGER_AREA

If this is the first time you have this "stop error screen", restart
your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps.
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any Windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or
remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory
options, such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use a safe mode
to remove or disable components, restart your computer and press F-8 to
select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode."

Never, ever use any registry programs. They'll make all even worse.

    NavEx15.Sys is part of Norton.
How much time do you have in safe mode before BSOD pops up?

      Try this, first....

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
      msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

      Click on Startup tab.
      Click Disable all

      Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
      Click Disable all.

      Click OK.
      Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

      Same problem?
