This is a sort of strange setup I have. My room is upstairs and I wanted to have internet on my desktop. I have a laptop which is what I am using to post on here with but it isn't the best laptop. I decided to use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) to be able to have internet on my desktop which is upstairs right next to my laptop. My modem is downstairs and is connected to a wireless router. My laptop upstairs connects to that wireless router downstairs and has internet. I then used ICS and enabled it on the wireless network on my laptop. I plugged in my laptop to another router which i have upstairs (exact same model router as the one downstairs) and plugged it into the internet port on my router. I then hooked my desktop up to the router. This is the setup basically.
Internet --> modem downstairs --> wireless router downstairs --> laptop upstairs (with ICS enabled) --> wireless router upstairs --> desktop
This was working perfectly and has been for about 2 months, then all of a sudden it stopped working. My desktop upstairs can connect to my router upstairs but not the internet which it use to be able to do. My laptop and desktop both have Windows 7. I have DSL from AT&T and both wireless routers are Netgear WGT624.
I only use a router upstairs because I want internet on my desktop and xbox. My xbox had internet but it doesnt anymore which is the same for my desktop. Im just trying to be as detailed as possible. MY xbox is also hooked up to my router upstairs, same one as my desktop. My laptop, desktop, xbox, and wireless router upstairs are all in the same room if that somehow helps.
So basically Im asking if anyone can help me to get internet back to my wireless router upstairs so my desktop and xbox can have internet again.
Ive also heard about something to do with bridging both my routers so that my wireless router downstairs can directly give internet to my router upstairs but I dont know how that would work but I think that would solve the problem.
