    Windows Media Player 11

I was just halfway through playing a tune via WMP 11 when l stopped it and came out of WMP.
A box then appeared on the desktop saying "cancelling the download of subscription rights" and the green bar started ticking across. I quickly went into shutdown/restart and it hasn't reappeared, but then l haven't gone back into WMP yet.
Any ideas as to what this is all about?

Was the song you were playing downloaded?

      Hi Kpac,
The song was "played" via a site called Spotify, and the sound was "captured" via a program called Replay Music.
      It's always worked before?

Maybe, but have you ever cancelled a song half way through before?

It sounds like the song was protected in some way, and WMP was trying to download the rights for it.

        Thanks for that Kpac,
Yes, it's been cancelled halfway through before.
The two programs l am using are legal, but l suppose what l'm doing with them is technically illegal in this instance!
Will try again and if the same thing happens, will let it run its course and see what happens.
        Will keep you informed.

Unfortunately we won't help you with that, no piracy.

Point taken Quantos, and l quite agree with you!
That was a one off, and l was just wondering what that original message meant.
The originating site is a legal site, which is slowly being rolled out worldwide, and you play the full tunes via WMP, or any another player for that matter.
I think Kpac may possibly be right, but how does WMP know this?

Because Bill Gates and his minions are slowly but surely building DRM ( digital rights management ) into every single MS product...
