    Not enough memory?
    « on: August 20, 2009, 01:08:33 PM »
Back again with a different problem. This time, It's not a difficult question but a question from ignorance. I used to play an MMO game called Mabinogi.

    http://mabinogi.nexon.net/Preview/intro.htm

My computer is very weak and old so the game freezes and is slow from time to time. I bought a graphic card that help it run better but it looks like I need more memory as well?

So... That's the problem. I don't know anything about memory and RAM except that you stick them in the computer. I'm also worried that my computer might not be compatible with current memory whatdoyoucallthems. I'm also worried about price. So... If you have any suggestions to help me so that this old computer can run at least a game like Mabinogi (I'm not attracted to high end games like Aion), I would much appreciate it.

Here's the computer specs. I didn't put them all up so if I'm missing any essential info, please tell me.

Would that be okay? I mean, my computer is very old. Is there like some computer requirement for current RAM?

I looked up some info on Crucial online about my computer's memory but I'm not allowed to buy stuff online.

But I found something similar (I think) in the bestbuy stores. Would this work with my computer and if not, could someone help find me one? :<

And I also don't know any computer stores besides Bestbuy.

Ok that's ok so all you need to do is buy what we call call a stick of RAM. And you want about 1gb. Can you not get online and buy at all? Have you not got a friend who can? We can help you find places to buy if your stuck  ;)

Unfortunately, my friends don't really like to go online period and my mom is really against online purchasing.

I would tell you my general location (Not my exact address).

            I live around Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Thank you for your help again.

Okay... It's been a while and I still need some memory. I decided not to make a new topic since this one still has all my computer specs and other thingies...
Anyways, I switched over to a new game.

                  http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/Downloads/Client.aspx

It says it only needs 512 MB RAM of memory. Since I'm going to college next year, I'm going to buy a new laptop before college. But for right now, I want to buy enough memory to meet the recommended specs for this game because right now, I freeze so much while I'm playing and it's just bad. D:

The problem is, I need help choosing which memory to buy. My parents said I could shop on the internet only if it's ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. So if it's sold in a store like Bestbuy, that would be a better option. I'll be using the money I have which is about 70$.

Thank you so much for your help and I really appreciate it. :)

Since you previously mentioned BestBuy you should be able to go there with the specs given to you on Crucial about what kind of Ram you need and they should be able to help you. If they  don't have it in the store they might be able to order it for you.

If not available from BestBuy and have you  to purchase online you can trust Crucial or maybe have a look at www.newegg.com as it is a trusted site and the experts here refer people to it a lot for computer parts.

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234)

I guess that's the operating system? The rest of my computer specs are on the first page.

                      Thank you :)

I wanted to check because some older OS's don't support that much RAM, you'll be good though.

Yes, and mroilfield is correct, BestBuy should be able to match the specs that you got from Crucial.

And what's left of my worry has vanished. Thank you so much! :D

I am extremely happy to announce that I have successfully installed the memory. I had to get a 512 RAM one though so it costs all my money! xD It's okay though, it means my computer runs faster than a 256 one right?

Anyways, thank you all for your help! I really appreciate it! I'll always come here whenever I have any more trouble (And that basically means, I'll be back soon xD)

Not a problem Pleanie, come back any time, especially if it's only to visit.
