U3 SanDisk wont recognize, brand new
    « on: August 23, 2009, 12:38:02 PM »
U3 2GB SanDisk retractable drive, wont recognize.

The orange light lights up upon plug-in but then nothing, U3 doesn't pop up, nothing.

Its brand new(as in right out of the box), and perhaps defective?
Have you guys had any problems with the retractable, and always seemed that design would make it more likely to fail.

I have a SanDisk Cruzer Micro that retracts. Don't see how it would contribute to failure, since the entire assembly just slides back and forth within the case.

does it show up in device manager?

No icon in the task bar, nothing in Device manager(and when I checked the USB Hub properties; there was no power usage coming from any of the USB ports, and yet the drive turns on an orange LED upon plug-in)

Alright he what I have so far,
My old Windows 2000 machine recognizes it and runs U3 without a problem(I removed U3 on this and formated the drive)

          Now here's the twist:
My new XP machine wont recognize it even after format, yet the XP machines at my school recognize it and they're the same model as my XP machine.

So a reboot would possibly work you say?

I would try that the machines at my school dont like when you use the front ones for some reason.  I ment the HP tool but that works too I suppose.
