    Rebooting all the time
    « on: August 26, 2009, 09:36:37 PM »
Everytime i go on my compaq computer and go into a program (different times) it always reboots when i'm in the middle of doing something, this is continuous. Then yesterday it did it again but instead of turning itself back on it did 1 short beep and 1 long beep. What does this mean and how can i fix it?

Can you boot to Windows, or you're stuck?

Blow the dust out of the computer with a can of compressed air.

I've cleaned the inside of the computer already with compressed air.

The first time i get onto the computer it starts fine. But its when i'm in the middle of something when it shuts itself off and keeps rebooting. Its mostly at a black screen but sometimes either it comes up with a blue screen or it goes to the option of safe mode normal, safe mode networking or safe mode prompt, but even before i can pick one it shuts back off and on again continously.

      Disable "Restart on error" feature...

      1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
      2. Click the Advanced tab (Vista: click Advanced system settings).
      3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.
      4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.
      5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

You may see some error message. If so, post back what it says.

      Download BlueScreenView
      No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

        BlueScreenView first, Speedfan second.

        BSODs aren't always heat-related...

Part of the problem is most people don't generally deal with computer problems. So for most they think that close enough is good enough.
