4 GB of ram not showing

Hello I have an HP Desktop
HP Pavilion Elite m9340f PC.
I'm pretty sure the Ram is installed properly.
I HAVE ABOUT 6 GIGABYTES OF RAM!
However my computer is being slow and i check in task manager>Perfomance tab and it says i only using 2 gigs of RAM instead OF SIX!!
Ohyeah im using Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit


HELP THIS COMPUTER COST LOTS OF $$$ ( YES 1,029 IS A LOT!!!!!)

Does this mean the Ram is newly installed? Your post isn't clear about that, unless I missunderstood.

turn the computer off
open the case
take the ram out
put it back in
close case
and try it again

no the ram is not newley install!
and i think my computer is seeing it but not using it
HOW do i utilize the ram?

Try running Everest Home Edition and post the results concerning memory.

Open Task Manager to the Performance Tab. How much physical memory does it show?

and also the pic is not blurry if u look close it says 6 gb on the my computer and 2 gb @ task manager

OK for some1 with so many experience u shuld noe this little trick
 right click>copy image location,
paste it in adress bar and press enter.

the image shuld be much bigger.
THIS FORUM RESIZES PICS SO EVEN IF I POST A ENORMOUS PIC ITS STILL TOO SMALL FOR UR EYES.

In any case...
Run msconfig and go to the tab labeled "boot". Go to "Advanced options" and make sure the "Maximum memory" checkbox is unchecked.

Yeah. Restart computer, and check Task Manager>Performance
