Easy question about a new PSU...
    « on: September 02, 2009, 10:22:52 AM »
With help from you guys I have found out my 420w psu has been causing shut down of my computer during scans like AVG.... I have been looking at new ones but I am 4 years behind on times and a little confussed. I have a p4 with a 20 pin motherboard connector and all 4-pin molex connectors of which I am using 6 right now and 1 floppy... This 24 pin motherboard and SATA has my a little confussed!! I am looking at this corsair at new egg.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Power+Supplies-_-Corsair+Memory-_-17139003

Could someone tell me if it will work for me? The pictures show a 4-pin molex but the specs. lead me another way... Not real sure if there are adapters I may need like for the motherboard!

    Thanks in advance...

How did you determine that you need a new psu and it's not an overheating problem?

Have you tried disconnecting one or more of your peripheral devices while you run AVG, to reserve power?

Have you tried running Speed Fan while you are running AVG, to monitor your temps?

Never argue with a stupid person, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
