Computer boot from bios to operating system
« on: August 29, 2009, 02:08:33 PM »
Just installed an ASUS A8N-VM CSM motherboard with 2GB ram.  First booted up system  and got a CMOS checksum error.  Replaced battery and cleared CMOS.  Rebooted system.  Now itt goes from the bios screen to a screen which says Windows not shut down properly and gives several options on loading Windows.  When I select one of the options it goes back to the bios screen and so on.

it sounds like you changes the motherbaord without reinstalling windows
you need to do a reinstall
or it will load drivers for the old motherboard and will not boot

Repair Install of XP

Done properly all your apps and data will remain intact...

Done improperly all your stuff will be gone but you will have a fresh install of XP...
