    removing spyware, malware, etc

    Hello Everyone,
I don't have any issues myself but some folks I know have been getting a popup telling a person their computer is infected, etc and need to download to clean the computer.. supposedly it is a worm or something and once one gets the popup the computer is infected whether one downloads or not, wasn't given a name or anything....  let me point out at this time that hasn't happened to me personally.. someone had said to go to Combofix.net and download something called  "bleepingcomputer.com" to remove it.. the computers that were supposedly infected had, I assume, updated McAfee protection..
My question is, is that "bleepingcomputer.com" valid (someone said it was a trojan)??.. I find it difficult to believe that a worm can infect without actually downloading while a updated virus protection is suppose to be protecting...
Basically this is to satisfy my couriosity should the same thing happen to me..
    Thank you,
    Larry

        You'll have to go here....

        http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

If you've lost your connection, download the programs to a USB stick on a good PC and transfer them to your PC.
If you have difficulty, you may have to run them in safe mode, tap F8 at start, .
If you have difficulty, you may have to rename the programs when you save them.
If you get stuck on a step, proceed to the next .

Post the logs for step 3,4 and 6.

Combofix should only be used under supervision....bleepingcomputer is another help forum.
