2nd hard drive installation problem
« on: June 10, 2005, 07:34:06 AM »
When I install a used Maxtor 17 GB HD
(Win98SE and boots in its own P-II 300 MHz system,
jumpered to CS) on the primary slave IDE cable connector
in my HP Pavilion 325C (WinXP on Samsung 60GB
SV0602H jumpered to CS; on the Primary Master connector),
the BIOS will auto-detect the 2nd drive, but does not
detect the original (master) drive.
Exiting BIOS, the computer freezes.
When I remove the 2nd drive from the slave connector,
the original drive boots to XP normally.
Any similar experiences or possible solutions?

Set the first HDD to Master, second to Slave.
