Virus attack
« on: September 17, 2009, 10:27:31 PM »
Hello everyone, long time no post,

I have ran into some trouble with trojans just recently. You know how it starts, the "your computer is infected and its being scanned" popups. Well I closed them and checked things and things seemed alright. Up until 3 internet explorer windows opened with nothing on them. Then I got an error, can't remember the exact message but it was something along the lines of a system 32 DLL file I think being missing. So since my firewall (zonealarm) completely froze on me, I restarted and tried to boot into safe mode. got as far as the loading the drivers screen when blue screen. so i tried again. same results. I logged back into my pc and got the error messages again about my system 32 files being moved. So i had zonealarm lock my internet so I could do a scan. Nothing has turned up. I did a hijack this and was wondering if someone on here knowledgeable enough to read it could do so for me :) thanks. If someone willing to read it says so I will post it. Thanks in advance

you need to start here http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html
Read everything carefully. then post the three logs.

I am just directing you in the right direction. I will not be posting back in your thread again because if I do it will bump it to the top of the list which actually puts you at the end of the line. And I am not qualified to post fixes.  (which should be a hint to others who are NOT malware specialist)

I've read through the information there, but I can no longer post my hijack this logs. My computer has been completely overrun, I can't access any programs, my desktop is changed, a fake antivirus scan keeps popping up and running, I can't access regedit, msconfig, taskmanager, anything. I am at a loss  :'(   help

Hello Apple266 and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. Let's try this: Go to this site to burn a Rescue CD or this site to create a Rescue USB. Please let me know if this helps.

Hi Super Dave, thanks for the attempt but after a bit it got worst so I finally gave up and wiped my hd of everything  :'( but I'm looking forward to my fresh start with ubuntu, it was always on a small partion of my hd as a backup and I have now wiped windows and am running ubuntu as a primary. Thanks for the help anyway, I don't know what I would ever do without Computer Hope :)

Well, good luck with Unbuntu. I wish I had the nerve to use it.
