    External Hard Drive Issues
    « on: September 28, 2009, 09:30:43 AM »
I have a 20 GB external hard drive. I added several files to it on my laptop. I then unplugged it and hooked it up to my PC. Suddenly it doesn't work. I have gone into device manager and tried uninstalling and reinstalling, updating the driver, and then throwing it out the window.  ;D Sometimes it tells me the device can't start (code 10), the device is working properly, and sometimes it tells me there is no driver. I don't know what else to try and any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have probably 5,000 files on it and would like to at least save those if nothing else. Thank you in advance.

Does it still work with your laptop or is it pretty much dead on all systems?

It's not working on the laptop either.

Put the external hard drive in the freezer for an hour, then try it again.  Be prepared to get all your files off fast.  Don't get your hopes up, it probably won't work.
