Need help concerning soundcard

I recently formatted my harddrive using a boot disk (floppy) and did the whole windows thing, eventually landing XP back on there. Everything is working perfect except i have no sound and as far as i can see..the comp isnt even recognizing the soundcard anymore (when it was before i formatted it). A friend of mine ran into the same problem on his a while ago and i believe he just downloaded some kind of sound card software or something and everything was back to normal..only problem is i no longer am in contact with this person so im pretty much screwed!! Your my last hope..PLEASE..SEND HELP!!!!!!

I had this problem when reinstalling XP... Take a deep breath... There is hope... Go to your sound card manufacturer's website, and download the latest drivers for your card and install tehm... Usually, this will fix your problem instantly... (Reboot after installation)
