    Input not supported.
    « on: October 03, 2009, 10:38:01 AM »
This is an issue that I thought was resolved with my computer. When it came up the first time it was a different fault but something along the same lines. I first replaced the motherboard because of onboard graphics card. After replacing the motherboard I had the same issue, no video on monitor and no beeps with seemingly everything powering on the way it should. Then I replaced the PSU because I found it missing a leg of voltage going to the motherboard was missing. So, I replaced the PSU and it worked. It has worked for about two weeks and now it has stopped working again. Now I am getting "input not supported" on the monitor. If anybody has any questions as to what I have or anything that can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

OK. So my next question would be, how do I fix this issue if I don't get a pic on the screen? Also, would it just stop working after about two weeks of doing just fine? Thank you for the help.

      1.  When it came up the first time it was a different fault but something along the same lines.
      2.  I first replaced the motherboard because of onboard graphics card.
      3.  After replacing the motherboard I had the same issue, no video on monitor and no beeps with seemingly everything powering on the way it should.
      4.  Then I replaced the PSU because I found it missing a leg of voltage going to the motherboard was missing.  So, I replaced the PSU and it worked.
      5.  It has worked for about two weeks and now it has stopped working again.
      6.  Now I am getting "input not supported" on the monitor...
      1.  Don't know what this means.
      2.  Before or after #1?
      3.  You now have replacement mobo; exactly the same as the 1st?
      4.  How could it power on if the psu was "missing a leg of voltage "?
      5.  What stopped working, the psu?
      6.  If the psu isn't working, this would be normal.

        1. What that means is it was doing the samething, but gave a different fault on the monitor.
        2. I replaced the motherboard because the geek squad at best buy suggested that, because it was an onboard video card.
        3. You lost me there?
4.The voltage that was missing from the PSU was a 5V leg going to the motherboard power connection.
        5. The PSU looked as if it was working because the fan was running and the light was on.
        6. Same thing this time, the PSU looks like it is working normally, light is on and the fan is running and everything is getting power except the fault displays on the monitor and that is as far as it will get; No bios, nothing.

I am going to check the PSU again. If that is the problem again. I have a power issue going to the computer I would think.

This is not a reliable indication of a PSU working properly...it takes next to nothing to run a fan and LED light.

Have you tested the monitor on another computer?

To the guru, I know it takes nothing to run a PSU that is why I said I was going to check it again. And when I check it I check it to the schmatics and with a multimeter. To answer the question about the monitor, I have tested it on another computer and it did work. So I am left scratching my head some more. Thanks guys for all the replies.

          The OP's 1st post said:

Now he has new motherboard and new psu and monitor works on another computer.  I have no more ideas unless OP provides additional information.

However we don't know what PSU this is...the wattage and whether it was new or used...

          Carry on.

What do you need to know and I will get the info. It is a new PSU and new motherboard and new CPU and CPU fan. The harddrive and the monitor are the same.
