Paint Shop Pro Question
« on: October 07, 2009, 08:18:54 PM »
Trying to figure out if it sounds like my Paint Shop Pro is broken. When I try to add text to the picture, it keeps floating/moving. I know there is an option to check that says Floating, but even when there is no checkmark by it, it still keeps moving/floating.
So, I don't know if there is some other setting I need to change somewhere that could be causing it this to happen?

Thanks,
Amy

Doesn't seem to be working for me. When I hit Selections, Select None was grayed out, so I couldn't choose that option.
Was wondering, is there someone out there who could please help me with resizing something I've made it.
Here is the thing I need resized, hopefully you can tell what it is I'm trying to get resized to the maximum width is 450pixels and maximum height is 150pixels
I keep trying and trying, but having a terrible time with finding something that will allow me to resize it or to do what I want in the first place.
Here is a couple of things.
Thanks,
Amy

I have PSP 4.0 and Image--Resize works okay.  You cannot get 450x150 and maintain the same aspect ratio as the original which is 960x720.

Sorry, if I didn't explain it exactly right.
No, on the one that is 920x720- do you see just the gray area, not the white. I don't want that white stuff thats all around it. Just want to cut out the area that is gray. Hopefully you can see what I want, I just don't have anything that will allow me to cut or crop out the gray area. The reason it is that big is when I tried to do it, the page I did it on was that big, but the area I did in gray is all I want, I couldn't figure out how to get it to do any other way. I did it using Powerpoint due to the problems with my Paint Shop Pro not working right with trying to add text. I also tried some other photo editing software I have, and does the same thing as Paint Shop Pro with floating the text. It's making me a bit stressed out(which really isn't good for my health) because I'm about to get it to work right, but keep running into some little road blocks along the way.
Anyways, could someone please try and cut out what I want, and then send it back?
Thanks,
Amy

AmyR7,In trying to help you with your picture problem i have encountered the following issues. It is currently a bitmap photo of in excess of 1.5 mb. I have tried a variety of ways to convert it to a jpeg. This is necessary because in order to include the picture as an attachment to be sent to you it must be 740kb or less.I suspect because of the format it was created in i cannot do anything that will allow me to convert it to a jpeg which would create a file much smaller than the current bitmap. I can do all kinds of things to it but so far i cannot convert it.truenorth

      With Paint Shop Pro 4
      Image->Resize
I don't think there is a way to do something similar in Paint.

Also, TrueNorth the attached files are JPG and PNG, not bmp (?)

BC, Weird when i extracted the picture from the original post where it 1st appeared it came up as a bitmap of 1.7 MB. Dealing with pictures is not one of my strong points so i brought in the big guns (my wife) who uses "Photoshop, etc a lot. She too couldn't convert it. Sounds like the poster may have a problem in the Paint shop program as it seemed to work for you. truenorth

MS Office Photo Editor works just as well and is more precise.  IMHO, the best graphics program available is FastStone Image Viewer, which has editing and viewing capabilities, and is free.  Both of these can crop to 1 pixel resolution, which is virtually impossible to do with PSP, hence the odd size of my edit.  The only reason I used PSP is because the OP used it.  My version is probably a lot older (1998) but it still works.
        FastStone Image Viewer

BTW, even if it was a bitmap, all of these Programs can convert to JPG and many other formats.

What version of Office are you referring to?  I have Office 2003 Pro and just took a look at Microsoft Office Picture Manager and found that I could crop that image more precisely with it than with Paint.
