Desktop Hardware Won't Start Up
« on: June 14, 2005, 05:20:13 AM »
We suffered a power cut at work yesterday and one of our desktop computers won't start up since then. And, as luck would have it, it's the one containing all the shared files.  >:(

When we switched it on following the power shortage, all the lights on the desktop itself and the keyboard were flashing, but it did not start up. Since then, we have tried leaving it to cool down, replacing the fuse in the plug, changing the lead but all to no avail. Please help! My boss is at the stage where she wants to rip it apart with her bare hands!

I did a quick search on Google and here, but couldn't find an answer; sorry if this is a question you get a lot!

Was this caused by lightning? If so, you probably have quite a few parts fried...

No: dozy builders.  ::)

It's been sent off to be fixed now. We tried our hardest, but it must be the motherboard.
