Have you scanned for the following threats:

      • Viruses
      • Spyware
      • Trojan Horses

And have you read the articles?

The swap file, or, virtual memory, can be re(al)located by taking the steps written below:

      1. Right click on My Computer
      2. Properties
      3. Advanced tab
      4. Settings button for performance
      5. Advanced tab
      6. change  button for Virtual Memory

What are the swap file settings and on what station is it located?

If you are running big games add another 512 Mb of RAM otherwise try setting your paging file Minimum and Maximum to 2000 so that it remains the same size.

When the message comes up it usually says Windows is (dynamically) resizing your swap-file. As this takes processor cycles and processor time the game grinds to a halt.

If you use Everest Home Edition you can find out which make your mainboard is and also how much RAM it will take. XP Professional can handle up to 4Gb (4 x 1024Mb) if you have the right mainboard.

        RAM Knowledge Base
        RAM And What it Does
        RAM Virtual Memory Paging
RAM Reseating & Fitting PDF File

        Processor Temperatures
        Service Pack Slipstreamer
        Power Supply Wattage Calculator
Everest Home Edition Computer Diagnostic Program

With enough RAM you can avoid paging where possible as the pagefile is the slowest part of the system as it runs ON the drive.

With some operating systems you can load the ENTIRE operating system into RAM.

What page size do you recommend when using 1024GB DDR RAM at 333Mhz and Dual Channel enabled, Mac?

I currently have it set to 1750MB.

Your swap file has to be equal to or more than 766MB.
