System does not boot and I get a beep
    « on: October 14, 2009, 04:49:54 AM »
I recently installed a new mother board because the one fried. I replaced it with a Asus P4S800. It is one long beep then pause then Long Beep. Any clues to what this could be?

I have swapped the memory, swapped out the cpu, took each component out of the computer one at a time. I have double checked the wiring...I also well think I cleared the cmos...took out the battery switched the jumper and put it back and then tried....still a long beep then pause then long beep....it just keeps going like the energizer bunny. I believe it has Award Bios... I am lost as to what could be wrong.

How can you tell if the mobo is bad?

Thanks for the post but none of those beep codes are the ones I am experiancing.

You must have missed it under the Award BIOS, anything not listed is RAM.  Are you sure it's fully seated?

      From the ASUS site:

      Quote
        DDR400 (PC3200) Support
DDR400 (PC3200), the latest and fastest DDR memory standard, supports bandwidth up to 3.2GB/s to provide enhanced system performance. (Note: PC2100/PC1600 up to 3 DIMMs; PC3200/PC2700 up to 2 DIMMs; 1GB PC3200/2700 with 32 DDR chips up to 1 DIMM only)

What RAM are you trying ? ?
