    blue fields (background) on desktop

    Hi everybody,
this is not really life threatening but has anybbody an idea how to get rid of the blue highlighting of desktop item names/descriptions.
I am using win xp and it appeared suddenly. I am not sure what I have done to cause it but I copied/pasted a Google file to the desktop.
I had the same problem ages ago but I can't remember how it is to be solved. :(

Well in the meanwhile I learned that it's (drop)shadows behind the icon labels but the proposed procedure via control panel-system-syst. properties-settings-use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop does not work.

If you mean you have a backdrop behind the text of the icons when you have not selected them...

    1)  Go to "Control Panel".
    2)  Go to "System".
    3)  In the "System Properties" window, click the "Advanced" tab.
    4)  In the "Performance" section, click "Settings".
    5)  Check the box next to "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" (it is near the bottom of the list) and click "OK" for all three windows.

The backdrops will go away unless you select an icon.
Happiness is not getting what you want, it is wanting what you get.
