Why do you want to uninstall IE8?  I'm not a big IE fan but I think you have more problems than just IE.  I use Firefox most of the time, but IE8 isn't necessarily slow by itself.

Have you ran an av scan?  Have you tried other browsers?

        hi
since installing ie8 it takes a very long time for the programs to start up maybe 5 minutes then everything is fine .I was just assuming that ie8 was the problem i have done a virus check and my system if fine.
        Thanks Barry

I still think you may have a malware issue....When I downloaded IE8 the first time something piggybacked on the download and I had the same slowdowns, with repeated .dll issues which had IE continuosly asking to close. I removed the virus, and went back to IE7., and the problems went away.....Finally, while away for a week of fishing, I returned to find IE8 had installed with an automatic update, and it's been running fine ever since......What AV scans did you run?.......consider running the scans in the virus and spyware forum ....... Be sure to run only one real-time antivirus progam at a time.

You shouldn't skip the file systems.
