DirectX / Direct3D problem

    I reinstalled windows because it had many viruses on it. After i reinstalled windows XP and reinstalled drivers, some 3D games did not work. I tested the DirectX Display tests, and the results were:


    • DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful.
    • Direct3D 7 test results: All tests were successful.
    • Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 32 (User verification of Direct3D rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)
    • Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 32 (User verification of Direct3D rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)

The colors vary on 8 and 9. 7 works fine.

Its really annoying how some games work and others don't...I mean everything was fine, even when my computer had 21 severe viruses. Now after a fresh install things just start failing.

I have:
Nvidia Geforce4 MX integrated GPU -- Display adapter
Plug and Play monitor -- monitor adapter

DirectX 9.0

My drivers are updated as much as they can be according to various driver programs I have tried.

If anyone can help please. Ive been looking all over the web for about a month now...
