Multiple questions for generial Windows XP.
    « on: October 22, 2009, 10:16:39 AM »
I have multiple little questions that I will put here until I figure out which category all of them go too.
    1. When I bring up task manager, the only thing that shows up is a button to shut down my computer.

    2. I have a all-in-one HP Printer. When my computer starts up it will be stuck on a blank black screen with a flashing dash in the corner. I learned that when turning off my printer it will continue start up.

    3. Again with the printer. When I open up the HP solution center, my screen changes resolution to a huge font and icons.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with the same issues.

    4. Lastly and most important of all.
I bought the sims 3 and when I start it it says that I need Shader model 2. I have a all-in-wonder radeon 7500 graphics card. Lets just say it was brand new when i got my computer, so it's old. With research I learned the names of all of the graphics cards that have it. None that I saw were all-in wonder. I have not used it's features at all hardly but I am not sure if I switch to a plan graphics card my computer will change some how.

    6. Where can I search all of these graphics cards at once and select the best cheapest one?
    Radeon:
    9500, 9600, 9800
    X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
    X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
    2400, 2600, 2900
    3450, 3650, 3850, 3870,
    4850, 4870
    Intel® Extreme Graphics
    GMA X3x00 series
Will it hurt if I try that nvidia brand?
    NVIDIA GeForce series
    FX 5900, FX 5950
    6200, 6500, 6600, 6800,
    7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
    8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
    9600, 9800, GTX 260, GTX 280

Model Number doesn't show up at www.support.hp.com
Go there and see if it autodetects, when you click on Automaticaly detect it or go to Guide to Finding your Product Number.

Can't help you much until we know exactly what you have.

What possible difference does it matter what the model number is?

It may not have a slot for a graphics card, being that it's an HP All-In-One.

An with the model number we can see if it is close to a machine that we know.

Didn't he say it has a radeon 7500? I have to assume he knows whether or not the card can be replaced. But okay, perhaps I'm misreading his post.

In any event, you can just ask him if he knows for sure if the video card is replaceable.

Sorry ma'am - my mistake, but I just hate saying "he or she" all the time just to be PC. Anyway, yes - that's what they were asking (personally, I gave you the benefit of the doubt ;) ).

Woah wait, why would the printer have a graphics card? We all know we are talking about my PCs graphics card right?

              You said it is a
              HP All-In-One.
              With no model number.
So we took that to mean the ultimate all in one that has:

Quad core at 4 GHz  .
              16 GB memory         .
              Vista Ultimate 64 bit .
              HDTV  with Dish       .
              Terabyte DVR           .
              Laser Color Printer    .
              24 cup Mr Coffee.     .

              Can't wait to get one!
